Personal improvement is a method to achieve all the objectives you’ve set for yourself. It is a way for you to become the person that you’ve always aspired to become. Self improvement is about recognising your faults and problems, and working on fixing them.

For you to become and achieve all that you desire, creating a personal improvement plan is essential. A personal improvement plan is a method to set goals, and create important personal habits. It is a plan that will provide you with a step-by-step self-help guide to achieving your goals.

This is very important, because when the majority of people set goals, they give up just before they accomplish the goals. With a good personal improvement plan, you’ll have a way to form habits, and also by changing bad habits, you will be able to achieve your goals and objectives.

Changing bad habits, and replacing them with good habits is one of the main points of personal improvement. Bad habits can be formed for a variety of reasons, and if you have undesirable habits, although they may be difficult to get rid of, they can be changed.

Great habits can be created just as easily as bad habits, and will also be far more beneficial to your life. Part of forming new habits is to recognise why your old habits are bad.

For example, if you possess the bad habit of procrastinating, you need to understand where that habit originated from. Once you’ve determined that, you will be able to carry out exchanging that habit with a new habit.

Habits are so important, because they determine what you do every day. Even if you set goals, you might not be able to accomplish them because of your habits. If you possess the habit of giving up on your goals, even if you set goals, you won’t have the ability to achieve them.

A personal improvement plan will show you what your undesirable habits are, and will permit you to discover why you have those undesirable habits. Once you’ve realised why you have these habits, it will become very simple to fix the habits, and form new ones; by changing bad habits and creating new ones.

An important step in your personal improvement plan is to reprogramme your subconscious mind of the negative, limiting and self sabotaging beliefs and habits.

There are many people today who have mixed emotions about their current jobs. Some like their jobs, some hate them, others do their required hours while in a trance. This makes me think. I’m curious. Is there such a thing as a perfect job? One that fulfils all our requirements, our likes and dislikes?

I knew of someone who had spent over nine months frantically searching for what he considered to be his perfect job. Every vacancy that he came across had a particular prerequisite that he was unable to do. The last so-called perfect job required that he make bi-monthly presentations.

That was a huge drawback for him. This bi-monthly obligation really had him worried. His biggest fear was not having the right answers to all the questions he might be asked. He did not want to look a fool. His fear was brought about by the lack of knowledge of the product he was to market. He had little courage or confidence because he felt he did not know all the ins and outs of the product.

The great thing, on that occasion, was that he took this insight as feedback. Since the closing period for applications was a couple of weeks away, he applied for the position, and then spent the next few days learning all that he could about the product. He learned the specific details of the product, and what its unique selling point could be. He learned everything.

A short while later he was interviewed for that vacancy. And, get this, during that interview he had to make a short presentation in front of an interview panel of three people. Was he nervous? No. His biggest and only stumbling block had been knowing everything there was to know about the product. Once he knew that, nothing stood in his way.

Just to let you know, he got the job, and he’s loving it. The lesson I learned from his experience was that courage, added self confidence and self esteem can come from knowledge. From that moment on I decided to always be willing to learn. I am now a constant learner. My question to you is: are you willing to be a constant learner to improve on your life?
