Building Self Esteem And Self Confidence

There are many people today who have mixed emotions about their current jobs. Some like their jobs, some hate them, others do their required hours while in a trance. This makes me think. I’m curious. Is there such a thing as a perfect job? One that fulfils all our requirements, our likes and dislikes?

I knew of someone who had spent over nine months frantically searching for what he considered to be his perfect job. Every vacancy that he came across had a particular prerequisite that he was unable to do. The last so-called perfect job required that he make bi-monthly presentations.

That was a huge drawback for him. This bi-monthly obligation really had him worried. His biggest fear was not having the right answers to all the questions he might be asked. He did not want to look a fool. His fear was brought about by the lack of knowledge of the product he was to market. He had little courage or confidence because he felt he did not know all the ins and outs of the product.

The great thing, on that occasion, was that he took this insight as feedback. Since the closing period for applications was a couple of weeks away, he applied for the position, and then spent the next few days learning all that he could about the product. He learned the specific details of the product, and what its unique selling point could be. He learned everything.

A short while later he was interviewed for that vacancy. And, get this, during that interview he had to make a short presentation in front of an interview panel of three people. Was he nervous? No. His biggest and only stumbling block had been knowing everything there was to know about the product. Once he knew that, nothing stood in his way.

Just to let you know, he got the job, and he’s loving it. The lesson I learned from his experience was that courage, added self confidence and self esteem can come from knowledge. From that moment on I decided to always be willing to learn. I am now a constant learner. My question to you is: are you willing to be a constant learner to improve on your life?

I would like you to think about this: what if you had the confidence to make anything happen, just the way you want it? It could be taking the next step in your career or business, or it could be to close an important contract, or perhaps to landing the job of your dreams.

Sense how you would feel, having accomplished what you want, bathing in its outcome. Now go about your day, and as you do so, as well as taking the appropriate actions that are necessary to make it happen, it is vitally important that you expect what you are seeking to actually happen: you will have the self-confidence to get your dream contract or your dream job.

Expectation can manifest wonders, it can even bring about near-miracles. The powerful brain, or more precisely your subconscious mind is a mighty goal-seeking organism. It thrives on targets, on goals, and it loves working towards them. When you put your mind to becoming confident enough to take your company to the next level, and you set specific goals, your subconscious mind will go to work to make that a reality for you. It will work day and night to make that happen. All you have to do is keep your eye on the target, release any doubt, take action and expect your goal to manifest.

The key thing here is that you must set your subconscious mind to work on what you do want, as opposed to what you don’t. When you expect to achieve what you are seeking, you will act and behave in a manner that allows your subconscious mind to believe it is so and to actualise it. In other words, making it your goal to ‘not make a mess of taking your company to the next level’ instructs your subconscious mind to ‘make a mess of taking your company to the next level’. It receives mixed, contradictory instructions. Why?  Your subconscious mind does not understand negatives; it does not understand the word not.

Neither does Google! If say, you do a Google search on “not make a mess of taking your company to the next level” you will get over 5,660,000 million ways of taking and not taking your company to the next level and any related finds. Even Google doesn’t understand negativity! And your subconscious mind is like a computer – we’ve heard that many times.

So phrase what you want in a tone of positive expectancy: ‘I intend to take my business to the next level’ or ‘I intend to land this dream job or contract.’ Take the time to come up with a couple of sentences that mean something to you, that powerfully resonate with what you are after, those that make you smile in full expectancy. Repeat them often and take all necessary inspired actions.

What you expect you will get. There is no room for doubt. Expect, believe and receive.
